Careers — remote-first, senior-only

Senior work, wherever you work best.

QuantmHill is a small, senior-only consultancy that works remotely on purpose — async by default, documented by habit, judged on output. The work is demanding; the workday is yours to shape.

Why work here

The pitch, minus the ping-pong table.

Most careers pages promise family and change-the-world energy. Ours is simpler: hard problems, senior colleagues, and a company that treats your time like it costs something — because it does.

Why senior-only

Clients hire us for judgement, and judgement doesn’t scale by adding juniors to a rate card. Small teams of experienced engineers mean real ownership, review by peers rather than gatekeepers, and nobody to hide behind. If that sounds exposed, it is — it’s also why the work stays interesting.

Async by default, documented always

Decisions live in written RFCs and decision logs, project state lives in weekly written updates, and onboarding to any project starts with its paper trail — not a meeting. We meet when writing has failed, which is less often than most companies believe.

Overlap windows, not office hours

Every engagement fixes a shared overlap window with the client, agreed in writing before kickoff. Inside it you’re reachable; outside it your calendar is your own. Nobody tracks green dots, and nobody expects a reply at midnight.

How we hire

Four steps, three weeks, no gauntlet.

The whole process typically runs three weeks from first call to offer. Every step has a named owner and a deadline — if we miss one, we tell you why.

01

30 min · week 1

Intro call

A conversation with a senior engineer, not a recruiter screen. We talk about what you’ve built, what you want next, and how we run projects — and you should interview us just as hard.

02

~4 hrs · weeks 1–2

Paid technical exercise or portfolio deep-dive

Your choice: a scoped exercise close to real client work, paid at our standard rate, or a deep walkthrough of something you’ve already shipped. No whiteboard algorithms, no free labour.

03

2 × 45 min · week 2

Team conversations

Two calls with people you’d actually work with: one on engineering judgement and trade-offs, one on how you write and communicate when a project goes sideways.

04

week 3

Offer

A written offer with salary, leave, and budgets spelled out — nothing to negotiate blind. If it’s a no from us, you get specific reasons in writing, not silence.

Benefits

What’s actually on the table.

Benefits that matter to remote engineers, not perks that photograph well.

01

Home-office budget

A real budget for a proper desk, chair, and screen — refreshed every three years, not a one-off gesture.

02

Co-working stipend

A monthly contribution toward a desk near you, if home isn’t where you focus best.

03

Leave you actually take

Paid annual leave with a minimum we enforce, plus your local public holidays — and we notice when you don’t take it.

04

Hardware you choose

A current MacBook Pro or Linux machine, yours to spec, replaced on a three-year cycle.

05

Learning budget

An annual budget for books, courses, and conferences — spent on work time, not weekends.

06

No-meeting Wednesdays

One guaranteed day a week with zero internal meetings. Deep work is scheduled, not hoped for.

07

Hours that fit your life

Outside the client overlap window, you set your own schedule. Output is the measure, not presence.

08

Annual team offsite

One week a year somewhere worth flying to, travel and stay covered. Genuinely optional.

Every budget and stipend has a number — the exact amounts are written into your offer letter, not revealed after you start.

Open roles

Nothing open. Still worth a hello.

No open roles right now — introduce yourself anyway

We hire when the right person turns up, not only when a project demands it. Tell us what you’ve built, how you like to work, and the timezone you call home — good introductions get a reply either way, and the first call when something opens.

Rather hire us than join us?

If you need a senior team more than a new job, start with a strategy call — we’ll give you an honest read on whether we can help.
