How to plan a website development budget in India

A website quotation is useful only when you know what it includes. A five-page company website, a product catalogue and a customer portal might all be described as a “business website”, but they require different content, integrations and testing.

For an Indian SME, the first budgeting decision is the job the site needs to do. Bring enquiries to a service business? Help a distributor share product specifications? Allow customers to order and pay? Write that down before asking for a price.

Choose the first useful version

A brochure website typically needs a home page, service information, business details and a reliable enquiry route. A catalogue also needs a product structure, images, specifications and a way to update them. A transaction-enabled website adds checkout, payment states, fulfilment rules and customer support workflows.

A customer portal adds another set of decisions: sign-in, permissions, business data, integrations and the work staff perform behind the screen. Count workflows and page templates rather than assuming every page takes the same effort.

Our website development service in India starts by agreeing which of these needs belongs in the first release.

Ask for these lines in an INR quotation

  • Discovery, page structure and design, including the number of review rounds.
  • Content writing, photography and product-data entry, with the responsible person named.
  • Development, content management and integrations.
  • Mobile, accessibility and enquiry-flow testing.
  • Migration of useful existing pages and redirects for changed URLs.
  • Hosting setup, handover, support and any maintenance agreement.

For each item, ask what is included, what is excluded and how a change is priced. Confirm whether applicable taxes are included in the quoted amount. A cheaper quotation can cover a smaller scope; compare the deliverables before comparing the totals.

Separate the build from recurring costs

Domain renewal, hosting, business email, paid plugins, payment-provider fees and ongoing maintenance are separate decisions. Ask who owns each account, who renews it and what happens if you change development partners.

Some services charge by usage. An SMS integration or a hosted search service may have a modest initial setup but continuing operating costs. Request the provider’s current pricing and identify which charges go directly to your business.

Define what “SEO included” means

Technical foundations can include crawlable pages, descriptive titles, canonical URLs, a sitemap and redirects. They do not automatically include market research, regular publishing or improvements to existing content.

If organic search matters to your business, agree which services and locations deserve useful pages. A Delhi service business and an Ahmedabad product catalogue may need different enquiry information. Our digital marketing page explains how this work can be scoped alongside the build.

Check the handover before agreeing the project

You should know how to access the domain, hosting, content and source code, subject to the written agreement and any third-party licences. Ask for a list of launch checks and a clear support period. Test a real enquiry before directing customers to the new site.

There is no single responsible price for every website. A short, written brief produces a quotation you can evaluate. Speak with Mukul Chauhan with your business type, city, required pages and any existing website, and we can discuss the next step.
